List of misinformation about COVID-19

The coronavirus, which causes the illness known as COVID-19, has been labelled as global pandemic. It has so far been reported in 188 countries and territories. Along with the virus, a lot of misinformation about COVID-19 has been spread among people. 

Here is a list of misinformation about coronavirus that has been popular among people and its true facts:

Myth 1: 5G spreads COVID-19

Fact: 5G mobile networks do not spread coronavirus. According to medical scientists, it's impossible for viruses to travel along radio waves and mobile networks. Also, countries which don't have 5G have also reported cases of the coronavirus.

Myth 2: Saltwater protects against COVID-19

Fact: According to researcher, rinsing the inside of nose with saltwater also does not protect against COVID-19. But it actually do some harm.

Myth 3: Alcohol protect against COVID-19

Fact: According to Dr. Amir khan, NHS doctor and senor lecturer, drinking alcohol also does not protect against COVID-19. So far, there is no evidence for that. But there's a lot of evidence to suggest that high levels of alcohol are bad for heart, kidneys, liver, blood pressure and even nerves.

Myth 4: Garlic and pepper protect against COVID-19 

                   

Fact: Doctors also suggest that eating garlic or pepper will not protect against COVID-19. Eating a healthy, balanced diet, exercising and sleeping properly is good for general health. But people have still got to be vigilant(careful) against COVID-19.

Myth 5: Drinking bleach protect against COVID-19

Fact: Spraying or drinking bleach will not protect against COVID-19. Doctors say ingesting bleach is like ingesting a poison. It could do serious harm. People can use bleach to disinfect hard surfaces around the house. But that's it. It won't protect against COVID-19.

Myth 6: Holding your breath as COVID-19 test

Fact: Dr. Amir Khan, NHS doctor and senor lecturer, says being able to hold breath for 10 seconds without discomfort doesn't mean people don't have COVID-19. The symptoms of coronavirus are a fever, a new persistent cough, a loss in sense of smell and taste. And the only way to know for sure whether people have got COVID-19 is to have a laboratory test.

Myth 7: COVID-19 spreads through mosquito bites or houseflies

Fact: According to epidemiologists, COVID-19 does not spread through mosquito bites or houseflies. There is no evidence at the moment that suggest mosquito bites or houseflies can spread the virus. It is spread through respiratory droplets mainly. So keep distance, wash hands and wear a mask.

Myth 8: Very hot or cold weather protects against COVID-19

Fact: Researchers says very hot or very cold weather will not protect against COVID-19. Regardless of what the weather is doing on the outside, the inside of the body still be around 36.5 to 37 degree Celsius. And hot and cold countries both reported cases of COVID-19.
